Arizona Deer Association Board of Directors Meeting Minutes for April 17, 2007 Members and Guests present
I. Welcome and call to order The president called the meeting to order at 6:40 pm II. Approval of the minutes Chris Denham moved, Amanda Moors seconded to approve the minutes from the February 20th meeting as presented. Motion carried. Pete Cimellaro moved, Chris Denham seconded to amend the minutes from the March meeting to include the payment of $500 for WCC dues, and to include a donation to the Littlefield Banquet of $1000. Motion carried. Rick Miller moved, Chris Denham seconded, to approve the amended minutes. Motion carried. III. Treasurer’s Report. Chris Denham moved, Amanda Moors seconded, to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. Motion carried. IV. Guest Speakers Leonard Ordway answered questions in preparation for the AZGFD commission meeting. He presented information about the changes to the upcoming regulations for deer, bighorn sheep and big game tags. The board members reviewed the department’s recommendations in-depth and thanked Leonard for his time and information. The board also discussed the proposal from the houndsmen’s group to modify lion season in some areas of the state and to close the season entire for three months during the summer. Pete Cimellaro moved, John Koleszar seconded, the ADA support the recommendation from the houndsmen regarding mountain lion season changes. The motion carried with seven ayes, 2 nays, and 1 abstention. V. Committee Reports
Banquet - Mark Bool gave a short report on the final outcome of the 2007 banquet. Mark shared concerns on how people picked up items from silent auctions. He felt that using a spreadsheet would ease the issues that occurred this year. The 2008 Fundraising Banquet will be May 10, 2008 at the Chaparral Suites in Scottsdale. Habitat - Pete Cimellaro reported on the Mills Creek project, which was finished in March 2007. This water project will aid in keeping wildlife from crossing Hwy 188 to access water. Newsletter - Deadline is approaching fast. End of April is the deadline. Youth – Evidently, the JADA trailer was found to be in horrible disarray after it was used in southern Arizona. Pete cleaned and restocked the trailer. Discussion about loaning out the trailer to other groups; however, no action was taken. WCC/Legislative - Pete reported on the Kofa and that it is going to Congress. The OHV bill is up for vote in the Arizona senate next week and all groups are still supporting the bill. Pete also gave a quick report on the AZOutwire.com. This is an email and news forum that will give alerts to issues concerning sportsman and sportswomen in Arizona. Website - Amanda Moors reported on sales from the website for the banquet. Over $7000 in sales were completed. Amanda added an email request area on the website. Membership - Joe Allen reported on the banquet memberships sold: 57 general memberships, 2 life memberships, 2 give away donation memberships for raffle. Links were added to the website for joining the ADA. PR - No report Conservation Partners - No report VI. New Business Annual meeting and election of officers will take place at the May 15, 2007 meeting. Mark Bool volunteered to represent the ADA at the upcoming Commission meeting. Next meeting May 15, 2007 at the University of Phoenix Main Campus. Adjournment 10:10 pm
