I.  Call to order

The President called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.

II. Minutes for March – Pete Cimellaro moved, Domenick Lopano seconded, that the minutes of the March Board of Directors meeting be approved as presented.  Motion carried.

III. Guest Speakers

Leonard Ordway of the Game and Fish Department reported that the department approved 750 junior doe tags for the second week of November, 175 buck tags for the late hunt, and 1000 buck tags for the early hunt.  The board discussed the matrix that the department used in figuring these harvest rates.  Leonard also reported that the Commission approved that those drawn for deer tags in 12AW and 12AE will be able to purchase a buffalo and elk tag and hunt all three species within the hunt dates.    Due to problems with the California condor ingesting lead shot, the Game and Fish Department is also offering at no cost lead-free ammo to anyone who draws a tag on the Kaibab.  Leonard also provided a report on the other game species permits in Arizona.

Steve Fairaizl of Logan Simpson Design discussed options on extending the ADA’s consulting contract with his firm.  LSD is currently finishing the final report for recommendations to improve the deer herd on the Kaibab.  The final draft should be ready before the meeting with Game and Fish in May.  Pete Cimellaro provided details of the Kaibab trip, which will be the weekend of May 21-22.  Pete Cimellaro moved, Domenick Lopano seconded, that the ADA allocate up to $1000 to supply dinner to all involved on Saturday night May 21.  Motion carried.

IV.  Committee Reports

Banquet – Tracey Martin provided a brief report on preliminary figures for the banquet, which she received from Treasurer Craig Dunlap.  The figures are very preliminary, and Craig anticipates considerable revisions until a final figure is produced.  560 dinner tickets were sold at the banquet.  The board discussed some peripheral issues, and it was decided the Domenick will call Cowboy Dan about the rug.

Game and Fish – Pete Cimellaro provided a general analysis of the recent Commission meeting.  He also discussed the department meeting will all wildlife organizations at the Habitat Partnership meeting.

Newsletter – no report.

WCC – no report.

Website – Amanda Moors provided a report on the website.  We need photos of the banquet to place on the site.  Chris Denham volunteered to write an article about the banquet for the site.
