Attending Guests Dominic Lopano Leonard Ordway AzGFD I. The President called the meeting to order at 6:33 pm II. Treasurer’s Report Chris Denham moved, Pete Cimellaro seconded, to table until next meeting. Motion carried with one nay. III. Guest speaker from AZ GFD was Leonard Ordway, who discussed the GFD recommendations for the upcoming hunts. Discussion followed. IV. Old Business a. Discussion about the presentation from AZGFD. Chris Denham will represent ADA at the upcoming Commission meeting on Saturday April 22nd. The board gave him specific guidelines for recommendations about the doe hunt on the Kaibab. b. The transfer of bookkeeping duties is taking place. Domenick will make contact with Craig when he gets back into town. c. The board reviewed the spreadsheet developed by Mark Bool outlining banquet costs and income. Preliminary figures indicate a net of approximately $105,000. d. The board reviewed the expenses of the on-line deer hunter survey. The total cost to ADA was $2390.46, after accounting for the $2500 donation from Bruce Reed. We mailed 15,561 pieces. e. The Annual Meeting will be June 6th at the offices of Burch and Cracchiolo, 6:30 pm. Tracey will email to the board the election results from last year, to determine who can be relected, who can’t, and who will be serving out their final year of a two-year term. The board will devise a slate and approve it via email. V. Committee Reports a. Membership – We got 76 new and 4 renewing members at the fundraiser. We now have 21 life and 501 regular members for a total of 522 paid members. b. Habitat – Pete Cimellaro moved, Todd Julian seconded, that the ADA enter into an agreement with the Arizona DOT for mitigation money for Roosevelt Lake projects, total amount to be $44,200. Motion carried. The HPC members will remain the same. c. Game and Fish – we need to apply for the special tags by May 31st. d. Newsletter - last issue went out before the banquet. Next deadline is June 15th. Amanda and Chris have pictures of the banquet. e. Youth - No Report. f. WCC/Legislative – The board reviewed the two state trust land initiatives: House Concurrent Resolution and the Natur Conservancy Initiative. Pete Cimellaro moved, Todd Julian seconded, that the ADA support House Concurrent Resolution 2045 as currently written since it is a better alternative to the Nature Conservancy Initiative. Motion carried. HB2127 passed and was signed by the Governor. HB1441 is still moving through both houses of the legislature. g. Website – Weekly legislative updates are posted; the action alert on HB2127 was posted. Amanda will post the Annual Meeting information. The board discussed cosmetic changes to the site. We had 2,946 hits in April. h. Public Relations – no report. i. Conservation Partners – no report. VI. New Business a. The Boquillas Ranch clean up is scheduled for June 24 and 25th. Pete Cimellaro moved, Todd Julian seconded, to allocate up to $1000.00 to the Boquillas Ranch Clean up, and to take the trailer and cook for the attendees. Motion carried. Pete will pull the trailer to the event. Mark Bool moved, Todd Julian seconded, that the ADA provide $2500 to become a sponsor of Sportsmen for Wildlife. Motion carried. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 10:40 pm. |
