ARIZONA DEER CLINIC

Drummond Lindsey was the key note speaker at the 2003 clinic.

The 2003 Arizona Deer Hunters Clinic was held on Thursday, September 25 at the Mountain Preserve Reception Center, 1431 E. Dunlap, Phoenix.

The clinic was revamped this year to include information about hunting both whitetails and mule deer in our state.  Speakers covered a multitude of subjects, including hunting tips and techniques, proper equipment, optics, and field care of big game.  Game and Fish professionals were on hand with maps and information about specific hunt units.

Drummond Lindsey was our keynote speaker and he gave out some good information to the hunters in attendance.  Drummond has been featured in Trophy Hunter, Muley Crazy, Eastmans, and Safari magazines, and has guided hunters for Coues' and mule deer in Mexico, Idaho, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana and Texas.  He currently owns and operates Desert Trophy Hunts, specializing in desert hunts north and south of the border. We were lucky that Drummond was available to share his unique perspectives on deer hunting in Arizona. Drummond also brought some trophy mule deer mounts for display during the clinic (shown in background of photo above).

Richard Ockenfels, research biologist with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, spoke about deer habitat and their behavior.  Chris Denham provided information on optics for hunting.  Mike Miller, from Southwest Meat Processors, talked about field care and game processing.  The ADA appreciates all the speakers for taking the time to share their expertise.

The clinic has always been popular, and with the expanded format, we hope everyone who attended found it very useful.  This clinic is an annual event and we look forward to creating an even better one next year!

Chris Denham spoke about optics for hunting.

Attendees got to view some excellent mule deer and whitetail brought in by several hunters.
