The Arizona Deer Association is a
non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to preserving deer and deer
habitat in the state of Arizona.
AGFD is asking for public input on the Hunt Guidelines. These
guidelines set management policy for species such as deer, elk, turkey and
more. Please take the time to review the current guidelines and
provide comments to the Dept. for any changes you wish to see. Want to
provide some feedback to the ADA regarding these guidelines? Please
email our president with
suggestions for changing the deer hunt guidelines as the ADA will be taking
suggestions and making suggestions to the AGFD on modifications we would
like to see.
Read the latest from the
Kaibab Research Project. For years the ADA has been working
to get the AGFD to use better management on the Kaibab. The ADA has
long believed that the Kaibab can sustain more deer and that the harvest of
does has been excessive. We have been successful over the years in
getting the commission to reduce doe permits (and in fact just got the
number reduced again in April 2009 at the commission meeting). In the last three years,
the ADA has been engaged in a research project to examine the status of the
Kaibab mule deer herd on the winter range. Results are coming in and being
analyzed. The ADA supports the use of the best possible science for
managing Arizona's deer herds. To help answer research questions, we help
fund research projects developed by the AGFD.
Looking for a way to get involved? We need people like you who are willing to get involved.
Some exciting opportunities include helping our youth hunters at the ADA
sponsored youth camps and helping to raise money for wildlife habitat
projects as well as working on those habitat projects. Email our President,
