Arizona DeerAssociation Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting JANUARY 18, 2006

I. Welcome and Call to Order President called to order at 6:42pm. II. Minutes of the October Meeting Vote to accept October 2005 minutes Vote all Ayes no Nay III. Treasurer’s Report None provided IV. Guest Speakers Guest was Ron Sieg from AGFD. Mr. Sieg gave us a report on the Kaibab projects. There is much work being accomplished on the Kaibab. Chasa O’Brien from AGFD also gave a briefing on data collection of both animal collections and ground cover. She did tell us that on May 1st, cattle will be allowed to graze these certain areas and they need to get as much collection done prior to this activity. Cattle have not been in these areas since the 90’s. V. Committee Reports Ms. Tracey Martin gave a report on membership. We have 19 life members along with 350 or so paid members. Our newest life member is Art Pearce. Thank you Art!! A motion to give a junior membership to an article writer was approved. The award went to Marisa who had her article published in the Deer Times. Vote all ayes no nays. Discussion took place about the governor’s nomination of Ms. Jennifer Martin to the AGFD commission seat. A motion was made to draft a letter to the governor’s office supporting Mr. Art Pearce rather than Ms. Martin. The board discussed possible ramifications of opposing the governor’s chosen nomination. Vote All ayes no nays. The board discussed the progress of the Arizona Big Game Super Raffle. Amanda will provide a link to the sight from the website. 2000 mailings were sent out with some response. All hunts need to follow commission rule 29. A motion to support the Big Game Super Raffle in the amount of $500.00 was made. Vote all ayes no nays. The deadline for the upcoming issue of the Deer Times is February 10. 2006. 2006 Banquet - Dominick and Chris Denham met with rep from Rawhide. Information at this time sounds as if all costs will mirror last year’s expenses. Any changes will be brought up at the next meeting or via email if needed. A motion was made to allow Rick Rademacher a limit of $5000.00 for items he may be able to purchase from vendor shows. Vote all ayes no nays. VI. New Business Tracey Martin was asked to give quote for check writing and general bookkeeping duties for the association’s daily business. A motion was on the table to give AZGFD Pinetop office a donation of $750.00 for decoy animal. Motion failed to receive a second. No Vote took place. No other business took place. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:30 pm.
