ARIZONA DEER ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING July 18, 2006
The following voting members were present: Kevin Harris, President Guests:
I. Call to Order The president called the meeting to order at 6:45 pm, and introductions of members and guests were made.
II. Minutes of the May Meeting Chris Denham moved, Brad Freitag seconded, to accept the minutes of the June meeting as presented. Motion carried.
III. Treasurer’s Report Brad Freitag moved, Pete Cimellaro seconded, to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. Motion carried.
IV. Guest Speakers None
V. Old Business Rick Miller moved, Joe Allen seconded, to meet the third Tuesday of each month at the University of Phoenix in Tempe. Motion carried. The Arizona Big Game Super Raffle was a huge success, raising $514,000 for Arizona’s wildlife. The committee and the ADA board believe that tickets for the mule deer tag were underpriced. Next year, the price of the ticket will go from $10 to $20. The whitetail tag raised $37,000. The Board thanked Pete and the ABGSRC for their hard work. The Arizona Game and Fish Commission has awarded the ADA one whitetail tag and one mule deer tag for auction next year, as well as one whitetail tag and one mule deer tag for the Super Big Game Raffle. Joe Allen volunteered to talk with Rick Rademacher about the wildlife drinker near Young, Arizona.
VI. Committee Reports Membership – No report. Habitat Projects – HPC met on July 14. Game and Fish - Senate Bill 1441 passed, which allocated $3.5 million to specific habitat projects. There is some concern about how the Department is going about acquiring matching funds for this money. Newsletter – The current issue is at the printers. Youth Committee – Terry Herndon will take over the position of Youth Committee Chair. The committee has planned a hunter ed course in Sedona/Soda Springs the weekend of August 18-20. Chris Denham moved, Joe Allen seconded to provide up to $500 for food and beverages for the hunter ed course. Motion carried. WCC/Legislative – The Board discussed the Roadless Rule proposal, spearheaded in Arizona by the Game and Fish Department who will provide direction to the governor. The Board reviewed a brief history of the rule. No action was taken. Banquet – The banquet is scheduled for April 7, 2007 at Chaparral Suites Resort. Brad Freitag asked that the programs for the past several years be sent to him for review. The first donor solicitation letter will go out in August. It was decided to place the ticket price at $60.00. Public Relations – no report. Conservation Partners - John Koleszar will co-chair this committee Kaibab – no report.
VII. New Business Pete Cimellaro moved, Mark Bool seconded, to approve the bills as presented. Motion carried. The board discussed the JADA trailer sponsorship. After discussion, it was decided to fold in the trailer sponsorship with the Conservation Partners program and make the sponsorship on of the selections offered to Conservation Partners. The Bow Hunter Happening is this weekend. Chris Denham and Mark Bool will attend, taking merchandise to sell at best cost. Chris Denham moved, Mark Bool seconded, that Brett Overson be elected to the Board of Directors for a 1-year term. Motion carried. The Board discussed the clinic. Kevin Harris will contact Alan Taylor about speakers. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:20 pm |
