Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

June 19, 2007

I.  Welcome and Call to Order

     The president called the meeting to order at 6:37pm

II.  Minutes of the May Meeting

Mark Bool moved, Brad Freitag seconded, to accept the minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

III.  Treasurer’s Report

Brad Freitag moved, Mark Bool seconded, to accept the treasurer’s report as presented.  Motion carried.

IV.  Guest Speakers

Leonard Ordway, of the Arizona Game and Fish Department, gave a report on the upcoming hunt guidelines for years 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. Discussion ensued about how the commission is changing dates etc for these years

V.  Committee Reports

Banquet - Mark Bool discussed minor items that he and Brad Freitag are working on for the next banquet.  Craig Dunlap moved, Mark Bool seconded, to allocate up to $2500 for  Brad Freitag to start procuring items for the upcoming banquet in May of 2008.  Motion carried.

Habitat - Mark Bool gave a report on the habitat group and recent projects that were funded: $162,000 was funded for mule deer, $29,000 for whitetail.  AZGFD requested funding for GPS for aircraft while doing research.  The habitat group did not feel that this request falls in the guideline of the project; however Domenick Lopano moved to support this request (project 07403) for up to $3304.00.  Amanda Moors seconded.  Vote was 13 ayes 2 nays. 

Domenick Lopano moved, Brad Freitag seconded, to support project 07-707 for $32,000.00.  Motion carried.

Game and Fish - Pete Cimellaro reported that there was follow up on the Kaibab projects that were started years ago.  3Bar project is completed, 24 does were placed with transponders. 

Newsletter-  Deadline is coming up the end of July.

Youth Committee - Terry Herndon reported on unit 20c.  The committee would like to consider a different unit, possibly united 23, as unit 20 did not have a good turnout last year.  Discussion ensued about taking on these camps without the aid of Woody and Bill.  He would give further thoughts later.

Website - Amanda Moors reported that she added AZGFD commission meeting video to the website.

V.  New business

Pete Cimellaro moved, John Koleszar seconded, to donate $250 to Hunters Lair in Pinetop,  Motion carried.

VI.  Annual Meeting and Election of Officers and Directors

 John Kolezar moved, Amanda Moors seconded, to approve the slate as presented.  Vote by show of hands was: 12 yes, 0 no.  Motion carried.

Officers and Directors elected were:

President – Pete Cimellaro

Vice President – Jeff Dickey

Secretary – Keith Gaines

Treasurer – Craig Dunlap

Nominated for a 2-year term – Joe Allen, Chris Denham, Rick Miller, Mark Bool, Terry Herndon

Nominated for a 1-year term to fill Keith Gaines’s seat -  Domenick Lopano

VII.  Adjournment

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:35pm
