I. Welcome and Call to order
6:35 pm - The president called the meeting to order
II. Approval of Minutes
Domenick Lopano moved, Brad Freitag seconded, amend the minutes to show that a donation of $250 was approved for the Mohave Sportsmen’s Club. Motion carried.
Brad Freitag moved, and it was seconded, to forgo accepting the minutes and treasurer’s report until the April meeting. Motion carried.
III. Guest Speaker
The Bucksksin Chapter reported on their fundraising banquet.
Richard Ockenfels reported on the Game and Fish Department’s research project, initiated two years ago with ADA funds, to understand and manage better mule deer on the Kaibab. Richard reviewed the status of the project and the need for a future financial commitment from the association.
The board reviewed how this data will be used by the department to help the deer population. The research project is designed to determine if the area can handle more deer, less deer, or the same amount. The board reviewed the history of this project since its inception and reviewed funding sources and funding in general.
Pete Cimellaro moved, Amanda Moors seconded, to support the Game and Fish Mule Deer Research Project on the Kaibab, and to commit to funding the project. Funds are intended to come from the tag fund, private funds and other financial sources. Motion carried.
Chris Denham moved, Mark Bool seconded, to support HB 2443, the OHV bill. Motion carried.
IV. Committee Reports
The remainder of the meeting was centered on the fundraising banquet, April 7th at Chaparral Suites. The board discussed the live auction donations, the program, and other aspects of the fundraiser. The board also discussed the audio-visual needs and ticket sales. We need to sell 500 tickets to have the numbers work in our favor.
