ADA Board Meeting Wednesday November 19, 2003 Attending:Todd Julian, Presiding, John Brishky, Tim Tanner, Pete Cimellaro, Kevin Harris, Amanda Moors, Mark Bool, Chris Denham, Craig Dunlap, Bob Davies, Joe Bill Pickeral, Scott Gorczyca Meeting called to order by President Todd Julian at 7:00 p.m. Secretary’s Report The Board approved the minutes of the October 15, 2003 meeting. Treasurer’s Report· Craig Dunlap reported on ADA money account and also reported all names stripped off trailer and ready for new sponsors. · Those companies that have paid for their names on the trailer include: Koons Construction, the Arizona Trappers Association, Mike Riddle Guide Service, Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club and Greer Farms. · Other names to be included on the trailer in accordance with sponsorship agreements: Cinnabar Construction, Ironwood Homes, Brogdan Construction, Courtland Homes, Macayo’s Family Kitchens, National Bank of Arizona. Kevin Harris moved, Mike Bool seconded that the Treasurer's report be approved as presented. Motion carried.
Membership· Joe Bill Pickrell reported sending 12 shirts to Rich Leightner in Paige for membership. Newsletter· The next deadline for articles is December 1st. · First issue of Deer Times in 2004 first part of February.
Habitat Projects· Craig Dunlap reports on water project #737 down in Yuma.
G&F· The ABA wants the Governor’s javelina tag, which has been awarded to the ADA to auction off at our banquet. Joe Bill Pickrell moved, Bob Davies seconded, to let ABA have the javelina tag to auction at their banquet, with all proceeds returned to ADA. Motion carried. · Meet the commission on January 17, 2004 in Tucson. · Pete Cimellaro moved, Kevin Harris seconded, to buy a table for eight at Tucson SCI banquet on January 17, 2004 for less than $1,000.00. Motion carried. · Bob Davies moved, Kevin Harris seconded, to approve funds to support annually the Environmentalist of the Year and sponsor program, which includes a table at Meet the Commission banquet for a total cost annually of $950.00. Motion carried. · The Board discussed pros and cons of deer transplant, specifically as regards to the amount of money the ADA will need to earmark for this program. It appears that the total cost may meet or exceed $150,000. Several Board members suggested changes to the proposal, including raising the number of deer to 100, and doing 2 (50) deer transplants into the same area. Predator control is a major issue in all transplants. · Pete Cimellaro moved, John Brishky seconded, to support deer transplant submitted by G&F. Motion carried.
Youth Program · According to those Board members who attended, the youth hunts in 23 and the Kaibab were a success. G&F had great showing and very helpful in 23, and the Buckskin Chapter handled the Kaibab camp very well. · Craig Dunlap and Chris Denham will get with Arizona Elk Society and Rick at Sportex about youth vests.
Old Business· Craig Dunlap will have sponsors on trailer in December after he has trailer buffed. · Banners needed (3) 2’ x 8’ and (1) 4’ x 20’. Joe Bill moved, Craig Dunlap seconded, to approve $2000.00 for banners. Motion carried.
Web site· Amanda needs pictures for web site. · We had about 1900 hits on web site in past month. · New trailer sponsors on web site as soon as a list is provided to Amanda.
Banquet
· Bob Davies reported dinner at the banquet will be handled by Continental Catering at $3.00 more per person than last year. $25,292 for 650 dinners. · Chris Denham reported getting vendor list from expo to send donation letter to all vendors. · Kevin Harris is still working on getting capes for mounting of the deer heads. Joe Bill Pickrell moved, John Brishky seconded to approve $4,500 to have deer mounted and caps for deer mounted. Motion carried. · Kevin Harris will write proposal on spotlighting during an open season. Meeting was adjourned at 9:55 p.m.
