ADA Board Meeting

Wednesday October 15, 2003

Attending:Bob Davies, Presiding,John Brishky, Dom Lopano, Tracey Martin, Pete Cimellaro, Kevin Harris, Amanda Moors, Mark Bool, Chris Denham, Steve Cheuvront

 Meeting called to order by Past President Bob Davies at 7:00 p.m.

New JADA trailer sponsors

·        Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club sent $500.00

·        Mike Riddle sent $500.00

Newsletter

 ·        Pete reported the newsletter is 2 weeks away from being sent.

 Habitat Projects

 ·        Steve C. reported on the G&F public presentation about wildlife waters at La Quinta Inn.  G&F reported about 40 waters on re-develop program; 350-375, or about 40% of waters in Arizona don’t work.  The ADA is working with G&F and others conservationists to get waters repaired in a timely manner.

G&F

 ·        Friday and Saturday 10/18/03 at 11:00 a.m., G&F Commission meeting to issue tags to all wildlife associations for 2004 hunting season.

·        Pete reported Jim deVos is working on final draft of mule deer transplant proposal.  One condition is predator management; predators are a major concern in all transplants and careful documentation and control of the number of predators in the release site will be necessary before a transplant can take place.

 Youth Program

 ·        No report

Banquet

 ·        Chris Denham reported that Todd Julian nominates himself, Tim Tanner, Mark Bool, and Chris Denham as the 2004 banquet committee.  The tables are set at $800 for a table of 10, which includes $300 worth of raffle tickets and a custom OZ knife engraved with ADA 2004 banquet.  Individual tickets will sell for $55 each.

·        Swarovski 1 package- ST-80 HD, EL 10x42’s and new surprise optic.

·        Chris is working on whitetail and Leica packages.

·        Tim Tanner working on mule deer hunt in Mexico.

·        Pete C. working on youth antelope in New Mexico.

·        Chris D. secured elk tag in New Mexico.

·        Bob Davies reported catering will be with same caterer, Continental Catering, who did such a good job on the 2003 banquet.  Beef prices have increased, but prices for meals will be $17 to $20.

·        Discussed security and door monitoring.  This needs to be addressed. 

Website

·        Website – maps for youth camps posted – links to wildlife posted.  September meeting minutes posted youth camp plans releases sent.

 Education

 ·        No report

 Bylaws

 ·        This is an action item for Todd, and the Board is still waiting for the next draft of bylaws.

Treasurers Report

 ·        Craig D. was not present, but a written report was distributed.

·        new email for Tim Tanner

·        By the November Board meeting, the JADA bank account will be closed and all monies transferred to general ADA account.

 Old Business

 ·        Reproduction deer racks have been ordered.  Completion time not disclosed.

New Business

 ·        Pete C. reported that Saturday at Commission meeting, the AWC will submit new conservation   
     
 bonus point plan to commission.  This new bonus point program was discussed in depth by
       Board.

·        The Board received update from Pete C. on the lawsuit from USO Outfitters for 10% cap on non-resident hunting tags.

·        Pete discussed Joe Carter asking to be reappointed for a second term  on the Arizona G&F Commission.  Discussion ensued and the Board consensus was to support Joe for a second term, especially considering any potential alternative.

·        The Board discussed recreational spotlighting during an open season.  No action was taken.  Pete C. and Kevin H. will meet with G&F about this issue.

 There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:35 p.m.
